Committee
We’re the local Democrats of Craig County, Virginia — a community of neighbors, volunteers, and everyday citizens committed to building a brighter future for everyone who calls our corner of Southwest Virginia home. Rooted in the values of fairness, opportunity, and civic engagement, we believe that democracy thrives when everyday people come together to shape it.
Whether we’re organizing town halls, supporting local candidates, registering voters, or lending a hand at community events, our mission is clear: to uplift voices, expand access, and ensure that every resident — regardless of background — has a seat at the table. We’re proud to stand for policies that strengthen public education, protect our natural resources, support working families, and defend the rights and dignity of all.
Craig County may be small, but our spirit is mighty. We’re here to listen, to lead, and to build bridges — not just across party lines, but across generations, neighborhoods, and lived experiences. Together, we’re shaping a future that reflects the best of who we are and the promise of what we can become.
What We're About

Each year, the Craig County Democrats proudly host a booth at the Craig County Festival, joining neighbors, artisans, and community groups in celebrating the heart and spirit of our county.
The festival provides the perfect opportunity for local Democrats to connect with residents face-to-face, share information about community issues, and highlight the importance of civic engagement — all in a relaxed, welcoming, and nonpartisan atmosphere.
The Craig County Democrats proudly participate in Virginia’s Adopt-a-Highway Program, maintaining a stretch of Highway 311 as part of their ongoing commitment to community service and environmental stewardship.
This effort isn’t just about keeping the roadside clean — it’s about showing pride in our county, protecting our natural beauty, and demonstrating that civic engagement extends well beyond the ballot box.
Fred is our mascot. Fred isn’t just any donkey, he’s the symbolic spirit of the Craig County Democrats. As a donkey, he connects directly to one of the most enduring symbols in American politics: the Democratic Party.
Beth Macy kicked off her campaign Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, in Roanoke, and the energy was great.
She’s jumping into the race as a Democrat to take on current 6th District Congressman Ben Cline.
“This race is for you and its about you, so I promise to listen to every one to learn to represent all the people. It is by giving all people a voice not just the rich and powerful that we can hope to become a more perfect union,” Macy said.
She’s not the only Democrat eyeing the seat for 2026—Ken Mitchell and Pete Barlow are also in the mix.
Virginia’s primaries are scheduled for June 16, 2026, so the race is just getting started!
